Using AWS Simple Email Service (SES) with Audience

Using AWS Simple Email Service (SES) with Audience

In this post, we'll cover the basics of getting Audience set up to work with AWS Simple Email Service (SES).

The Settings

In Audience, we need some settings configured so we can set up AWS SES (Simple Email Service).

Audience AWS SES Settings

Region - The AWS region you are using to send your emails

API Key - The API Key from AWS

API Secret - The API Secret we need from AWS to send the emails.

Email - The email we will use for our test/activation email.

AWS Simple Email Service (SES)

I'm going to assume that you have already set up AWS SES to send emails, I'll be doing another post on setting up AWS SES to send emails in the near future and will update here to link to that.

In Identity and Access Management (IAM) find the user you want to use for Emailing and head to the "Security Credentials" tab

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) Access keys

Then select "Create Access Key" to generate the key and secret that Audience will use for sending.

AWS Access Key and Secret

Copy the Key and Secret and load them into Audience.

Test / Activation Email

Once you load the settings into Audience, we will send the test email. Click the "Activate" link to switch on AWS SES.

Once you have done that, you are up and running and can send emails with Audience using AWS Simple Email Service (SES)
